OUR STORY

Attorney Bridgette Bennett

Like you, founding attorney Bridgette Bennett, or Attorney B as clients call her, is a U.S. immigrant. While she will tell you that her immigration story was a positive experience, the same could not be said for her husband’s immigration experience.

After immigration authorities attempted to deport her husband, Attorney Bennett realized she had a higher purpose in life. She left her corporate job to attend law school with the risk that she would lose everything she had built. Now, she is living her own American Dream.

As an immigration attorney, Bridgette can now tell clients that she knows exactly what they are going through, and will do everything in her power to help you achieve your own version of the American Dream.

About Us

Why Hire an Immigration Attorney?

Bennet Law Center and our team of talented attorneys know the significance of the immigration process and strive to provide every individual or family who reaches out to our Groveland practice with the highest level of service and care. Immigration law covers a wide variety of categories, each with its own unique set of requirements which can make understanding what steps you need to take extremely challenging. Additionally, confusing paperwork and a lack of information means making mistakes is easy to do and can result in lengthy delays, denials, and lost time and money.

Hiring a legal representative who can guide you through your rights and responsibilities could help to ensure the best possible outcome and a better understanding of the process as a whole. From helping you gather documentation and addressing potential legal issues to submitting the right applications and preparing you for your interview process, we will be with you every step of the way. Some of the services we offer include:

We also offer resources for immigrants who are the victims of crime and make sure they receive the protection they deserve.

Business Law Services

In addition to our dedication to helping individuals through the immigration process, we also offer a variety of business law services. Some of these include drafting and negotiating contracts, business formation, buying and selling a business, real estate transactions, litigation, and wills and trusts.

Basics of Employment-Based Immigration

If you plan to move to the United States permanently, you will require an immigration visa. An immigration visa allows you to obtain Legal Permanent Resident status, which many people know as a Green Card. People who hold Green Cards can apply for U.S. citizenship after five years, and most people obtain these documents through an employer or family sponsor.

The U.S. issues about 140,000 employment-based immigration visas every year in five different preference categories. While requirements differ for each case, most employment-based immigration visas require the applicant to have a job offer. In many situations, the employer must have a certification from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) verifying that the employer cannot fill their need with a U.S. citizen.

A trusted Groveland attorney could explain the different categories of employment-based immigration and their requirements in further detail and help you understand which category may apply to your specific circumstances.

Immigration Based on Familial Relationships

Immigration law favors family reunification, but the process can be prolonged depending on the sponsor’s status, their relationship to the applicant, and the country the applicant is emigrating from. Applicants from countries with lower rates of immigration often receive visas faster than applicants from countries with higher rates, such as Mexico and the Philippines.

The U.S. issues an unlimited number of Immediate Relative visas each year. These visas are available to a citizen’s spouse and unmarried children under 21. Once the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) approves the sponsor’s petition, supporting documents, and the family member’s application, Immediate Relative visas are available. However, the entire process could take several years.

Green Card holders could bring their spouse and unmarried children under 21 to the U.S. through an F-2A Family Preference visa. A limited number of these visas are available, and they are processed in order based on their priority date. A seasoned Groveland attorney could advise your family about the likely processing time in a specific case and ensure you are fully aware of your options and requirements throughout the immigration process.
